At Hughes Health, we believe in transparency when it comes to your healthcare costs. Under the Federal No Surprises Act of 2022, designed to protect patients from unexpected medical expenses, we provide all patients with a Good Faith Estimate of what your medical care will cost. This ensures you are informed and can make the best decisions for your care.

What Is a Good Faith Estimate?

A Good Faith Estimate provides an upfront, clear estimate of the expected costs of your medical care. This is particularly important for patients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance for their treatment. It outlines the charges you can expect for your services.

When Will You Receive a Good Faith Estimate?

You are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate when you schedule care or request pricing information. Since care is specifically tailored to each patient's individual needs, the doctor will provide you with the expected costs for your care. Here’s how it works:

  1. Initial Consultation & Examination: During your first visit, you’ll meet with the doctor for a thorough consultation and examination.

  2. Follow-Up Visit: After your initial appointment, you’ll have a follow-up visit — at no extra charge. This is where you’ll learn the results of your examination and hear the doctor’s recommendations which will include types of treatments as well as frequency of treatment.

  3. Good Faith Estimate: During this follow-up visit, the doctor will then provide a Good Faith Estimate tailored to your specific condition(s) and needs to reach your goals.

This ensures you understand the costs before starting any treatment, so you can make an informed decision without surprise expenses.

What Is Included in Your Estimate?

Your Good Faith Estimate will include:

  • The total expected cost of your treatment, including exams, therapies, procedures, and any additional fees.

  • A detailed breakdown of the services provided.

  • Information on potential follow-up care, if applicable.

Understanding Your Rights

  • You have the right to receive a written Good Faith Estimate before any care is rendered

  • If your actual bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute the charges.

  • Make sure to save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.
